Kathairos nitrogen system serving as a solution to methane emissions elimination in Saskatchewan

Scenario

In alignment with Canada’s 2030 methane reduction goals, Saskatchewan’s updated 2024 Directive PNG036 sets stringent requirements for methane venting and flaring, mandating all new and existing pneumatics to achieve zero emissions.

Background

In 2024, Saskatchewan released amendments to Directive PNG036—Venting and Flaring Requirements. This regulatory update aims to curb methane emissions in alignment with Canada's commitment to a 75% reduction in methane emissions by 2025. A proposed equivalency agreement with the Canadian Government, if ratified, would allow Saskatchewan to enforce its tailored methane regulations, focusing more intensively on zero-vent pneumatics than the federal regulations.
